History and description
Easter Road Stadium opened on 4 February 1893 with a match between Hibernian and Clyde.
In the next decades, Hibernian regularly contemplated moving to another site, but finally decided in 1922 to stay at the ground. Two years later three banks of terraces and a main stand were erected.
Easter Road Stadium recorded its highest attendance in 1950 when 65,860 fans attended the derby versus Hearts.
Minor improvements to the stadium were made in the 1950s and 1960s, but few in the decades following. By the late 1980s, the state of Easter Road had significantly deteriorated and safety measures had reduced capacity to about 27,000.
In the early 1990s, Hibernian considered moving to a brand new stadium, however plans were abandoned in 1994, and one year later a redevelopment of Easter Road was started. Two new stands were built behind the goals, and the rest of the stadium was converted into an all-seater.
The redevelopment of Easter Road continued in the 2000s, first when a new West Stand was built in 2001, and most recently in 2010 when the new East Stand opened.

Was at easter road recently for a game against Dundee United, it was a fantastic stadium with a fantastic atmosphere, it puts all the Scottish premier league grounds to shame, with the exception perhaps of Celtic park, and Ibrox , the size of the crowd was one that almost every Scottish premier league side can dream about, can’t wait until the Scottish cup holders are back in the top league
Having visited most grounds in England I decided to travel up north for a game of football. I bought my ticket for Dunfermline game about two weeks before the game and got it delivered. Stadium itself was nice, but parking was a nightmare! I kept driving around for nearly an hour before finally parking at Tesco. Support was almost non-existent. Having previously watched Rangers at Ibrox I expected a better and louder supporters. Level of football was really poor. I often argue with my English friends that Scottish football is not that bad, but this game must have proven me wrong.
