History and description
Stadion Gradski vrt opened in 1980. Most of the stadium initially consisted of standing areas, and in 1982 a reported 40,000 people attended a match between Osijek and Dinamo Zagreb.
The stadium underwent a first refurbishment in 2005, and a smaller one in 2010.
Over the years, the Croatian national team has regularly used Gradski vrt for home matches.
How to get to Stadion Gradski vrt
Stadion Gradski vrt is located in the south of Osijek at about 1.5 kilometres from the railway station. The walk takes about 15 minutes.
Osijek’s city centre lies north of the station and thus somewhat further away. Take tram 2 to get from the centre (e.g. Zupanijska street) to the stadium.

Eat, drink, and sleep near Stadion Gradski vrt
Stadion Gradski vrt is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood near the southern edge of the city. There is little around in terms of eating and drinking, which is better done in Osijek’s old town.
