History and description
Bunyodkor Stadium got built in place of the old MHSK Stadium, which had stood at the same place. The old stadium got demolished in 2008, but it took until 2012 for the new arena to be completed.
The stadium officially opened on 29 September 2012 with an opening ceremony with president Islam Karimov, who had championed the construction of a new stadium, in attendance.
Besides being the home of FC Bunyodkor, Bunyodkor Stadium also serves as the standard playing venue of the Uzbekistan national team.
How to get to Bunyodkor Stadium
Bunyodkor Stadium is located in the south-west of the city of Tashkent, not far from the international airport and about 7 kilometres from central Tashkent.
The stadium is easily reached by metro as station Mirzo Ulugbek lies right next to the stadium. Mirzo Ulugbek is on the red line 1 which runs right through central Tashkent.
