History and description
Estádio Serra Dourada, officially known as Estádio do Governo do Estado de Goiás, got built by the state of Goias to grow the level of football in the state and serve as the principal football venue.
The stadium officially opened on 9 March 1975 with a match between a selection of players from Goias state and Portuguesa. It could initially hold up to 78,000 spectators, which got reduced over the years due to safety restrictions.
Estadio Serra Dourada was one of the four playing venues of the 1989 Copa America. The stadium has also regularly hosted matches of the Brazil national team.
Estadio Serra Dourada is currently the home of Goias, while some of Goiana’s other teams, including Atletico Goianense, Goiania, and Vila Nova, use the stadium occasionally for high-profile matches.
How to get to Estadio Serra Dourada
Estadio Serra Dourada is located in the west of the planned city of Goiania, which got founded in 1933. It lies about 4 kilometres west from its city centre.
Goiania’s long distance bus terminal is located just north of the city centre at Araguaia Mall, 6 kilometres from the stadium.
Take a taxi or a local bus, e.g. the 261 or 406 from Av. Araguaia or Praca Civica in Goiana’s city centre.

Goias Tickets
Goias tickets can be bought online, at the ticket windows of Goias’ own stadium Serrinha in the south of the city, or at several Sherife stores, including the ones at the Rua-06 and Rua-08 in the city centre.
Tickets can also be bought at the ticket windows of Estadio Serra Dourada on the day of the match.
Expect to pay from R$ 40.00 for a seat behind the goal to R$ 80.00 for a seat at the main stand.
