Grand Stade du Havre is the currently under construction new arena of Havre Athletic Club. The stadium is planned to open this summer.
The stadium project was first presented in 2007. Construction started in 2010, and is in the meantime well under way with the characteristic blue exterior of the stadium almost completely in place.
The stadium is being built at a site just a few hundred metres away from HAC’s current home Stade Jules Deschaseaux, with only the D6015 motorway separating both stadiums.
The Grand Stade will have a capacity of 25,000 seats, about 9,000 more than the Jules Deschaseaux. There will be plenty of corporate facilities with over 3,000 VIP places.
The main framework and stands are all but finished:
One of the first matches to be played at the new stadium will be a friendly between the national teams of France and Uruguay. The match, which will be the first post-Euro 2012 match of the French, will be played on the 15th of August 2012.
