It is more of a bi-monthly construction update at the moment, but we have again collected some photos of the stadium that are currently under construction. Earlier editions can be found here, here, and here.
We start with a stadium that is almost completed, and arguably one of the highlights of the year. It is Sweden’s new national stadium, the Friends Arena, which is set to open in a month with a Swedish Moments night. It will then host a Sweden vs England friendly on the 14th of November.
The stadium is practically finished:

Palmeiras new stadium, the Arena Palestra Itália, is shooting up like a flower on a warm spring day. Just a few months ago there was nothing more than just a bare site with a few poles in the ground, and right now we see two-tiered stands on three sides of the stadium.

Next is the one we are all secretly waiting for. Yes, Bursa’s Timsah Arena in the shape of a crocodile. It’s coming along nicely, though no signs yet of the crocodile head. The single-tiered stand at the end looks great though.

Tomorrow (Saturday), FIFA will choose the playing venues of the 2018 World Cup. They might also already make a choice between Dynamo’s slightly extravagant VTB Arena, of which construction is still in the very preliminary stages, or Spartak’s new Spartak Stadium, which is progressing a lot more quickly.

Monterrey is also building a new stadium, and while they have only recently started, works look promising. What’s more, the new Estadio de Fútbol Monterrey is going to make for great pictures with Monterrey’s characteristic Cerro de la Silla in the background.

Unfortunately, not all stadiums progress as quickly as the ones above. Belgian side Gent is building the new Arteveldestadion, but works just do not seem to be moving along. The stadium was expected to open for this season, but this has already been delayed with a year. Let’s hope they make the start of next season.
