History and description
Shanghai Stadium was built in 1997 to serve as the flagship venue for the 1997 National Games of the People’s Republic of China.
The stadium hosted several games during the 2008 Olympic football tournament.
Its most characteristic feature is its saddle-shaped roof.
How to get to Shanghai Stadium
Shanghai Stadium is located toward the south-west of the city of Shanghai, about 8 kilometres from People’s Square and central Shanghai.
The stadium is easily reached by metro. Station Shanghai Indoor Stadium is on the circular line 4, which can be taken from Shanghai Railway Station or east of the financial district.
Shanghai South Railway Station lies only 3 kilometres further south of the stadium. Take metro line 3 from there and get off at Caoxi Road, which is a short walk from the stadium.
