History and description
Stadion Vorskla, in full Stadion Vorskla Oleksiy Butovskyi, opened in 1951. It got built at the site of an old ground that had stood there since 1913.
The stadium could initially hold 7,500 spectators, but as early as 1957 got further expanded, and reached 18,000 places in 1963 following another reconstruction. Finally, in 1968, the stadium could hold 30,000 spectators after a final major reconstruction.
Since then, the stadium has only undergone minor refurbishments, starting in the 1990s. It has gone by various names including Stadion Kolos between 1956 and 1990.
Stadion Vorskla has hosted various Ukraine Super Cup finals and in 2014 hosted the Ukraine Cup Final.
How to get to Stadion Vorskla
Stadion Vorskla is located in central Poltava just a few blocks off the central Round Square. The stadium is at easy walking distance from most central locations.
Direct trains connect Poltava with Kiev (from 3 hours journey time), Kharkiv (from 1.5 hours), and a few destinations further away in Ukraine.
