Club: Shrewsbury Town FC | Opening: 2007 | Capacity: 9,875 seats

Montgomery Waters Meadow, also known as New Meadow, was built in 2007 to replace Shrewsbury’s old Gay Meadow ground, which could not meet the standards of modern time.

New Meadow officially opened on 14 July 2007 with a friendly match between Shrewsbury and an All Star XI.

The record attendance at the stadium was set in 2014 when Shrewsbury hosted Chelsea in a League Cup tie. The attendance of 10,210 was higher than the standard capacity due to the addition of temporary stands.

The stadium was initially without name, but then first changed Prostar Stadium, then Greenhous Meadow, and finally Montgomery Waters Meadow, all resulting from naming rights sponsorship deals.

Montgomery Waters Meadow is located on a retail park on the southern edge of the town of Shrewsbury at just under 2 miles from Shrewsbury town centre and a little more from the town’s railway station.
