Campos de Sport de El Sardinero opened on the 20th of August 1988. It replaced Racing\u2019s previous ground with the same name.<\/p>\n
The first match at El Sardinero was played between Racing and Oviedo. Since then, only minor renovations have been performed on the stadium.<\/p>\n
<\/span><\/p>\n Estadio El Sardinero is located in the north-east of the town of Santander at just a few hundred metres from Sardinero beach (Playa del Sardinero).<\/p>\n It is about 2.5 kilometres from the town\u2019s historic centre, and a few hundred metres more from the main train and bus stations.
