Est\u00e1dio Municipal de Aveiro\u00a0is owned by the city of Aveiro, and its high maintenance costs have weighed heavily on local budgets. Voices have therefore gone up to tear the stadium down and replace it by a smaller one, but no plans have become concrete yet.<\/p>\n
From 2003 to 2015, the stadium served as the home of Beira-Rio, but the stadium proved too large for the local club and in 2015 they moved back to their old home Estadio Mario Duarte, leaving Estadio Municipal de Aveiro without occupant.<\/p>\n

Est\u00e1dio Municipal de Aveiro is located in the far north-east of the small city of Aveiro at an industrial zone next to the A25 motorway. It lies about 5.5 kilometres away from Aveiro\u2019s historic city centre, and slightly less from its main train station.<\/p>\n
Regular direct trains run to the city from Porto and Lisbon.<\/p>\n
