Stade Océane officially opened on 12 July 2012, exactly two years after construction had begun.

Stade Oceane replaced the old Stade Jules-Deschaseaux, which had been located just a few hundred metres away of the new stadium. The stadium got built on the terrains of the national railroad company SNCF, and came at a cost of €80 million.

Stade Oceane opened with a match between Havre AC and Lille (1-2). The stadium’s most characteristic feature is its bright blue exterior and roof that light up at night.

Stade Océane is located toward the east of the city of Le Havre, roughly 3.5 kilometres from Le Havre’s city centre and the main railway station.

The stadium lies adjacent to the RD6015, one of the main access roads that leads into the city from the A131 in the east.
